iPhone 17: New details on the device line-up
iPhone 17, 17 Pro Max, 17 Pro and 17 "Slim": Apparently there will be four Apple smartphones again next year. The top model is probably new.
Apple is probably planning another quartet of models for the iPhone 17 - although the line-up is to be partially restructured. At least that's what a well-known Chinese leaker claims on the Weibo short message service. As "Ice Universe" wrote on Sunday, there will no longer be a Plus model. Instead, an iPhone 17 "Slim" (or "Ultra") is to be released, which would be the new top model.
Top model with new starting price
Ice Universe believes that both the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro will each have a 6.27-inch LTPO OLED display. In a table, it specifies a price of 799 and 1099 US dollars plus tax, respectively, for the smallest model. The largest iPhone 17 remains the 17 Pro Max, now with a 6.86-inch (also LTPO display) for 1199 dollars to start. This corresponds to the current price of the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The iPhone 17 "Slim" or "Ultra " with a 6.65-inch LTPO display and a particularly flat casing - already mentioned several times in the rumor mill - would be completely new. It is said to cost 1299 dollars plus tax in the starter version and would therefore be 100 dollars more expensive than the current maximum rate. It is to be expected that you will then pay over 2000 euros for the top configuration.
This is how thin the iPhone 17 "Slim" will be
The standard model of the iPhone 17 would be the first to feature an LTPO panel and thus the familiar always-on functionality with a variable refresh rate between 1 and 120 Hertz. According to Ice Universe, the Pro models have 12 GB of RAM for the first time and all three cameras on the back are equipped with 48 megapixels. Allegedly, these are all arranged in a strip next to each other.
The "Slim" aka "Ultra" is set to be the thinnest iPhone since the iPhone 8 from 2017 - if not thinner. This was 7.3 mm thin, whereas the iPhone 15 Pro Max currently measures 8.25 mm and the iPhone 15 Standard 7.8 mm. By comparison, the 13-inch iPad Pro M4, Apple's thinnest product to date, is 5.3 mm thin. The iPhone 17 is not expected before September 2025. The iPhone 16 will be released first in September, presumably also in four variants.
