With driver 610.47, Nvidia is ending the era of the GeForce Control Panel – more or less. All important functions have moved to the Nvidia App.

Nvidia is officially retiring the GeForce Control Panel with the Game Ready Driver 610.47 WHQL released on Tuesday. After 20 years, the Nvidia App will now take over all tasks of the classic panel, Nvidia writes. All actively supported functions have already been transferred to the new client.
As the company explains in the release notes for the new driver, nothing will initially change for users with an existing Control Panel: the software will remain on the system. Only with a complete clean install of the graphics driver will the panel be removed and no longer reinstalled. Those who still need the Control Panel afterwards can continue to download it from the Microsoft Store – but without further updates, bug fixes, or new features.
Exception: RTX PRO
This does not apply to users of professional RTX PRO graphics cards for now. Nvidia will continue to support the Control Panel for this target group until all professional functions have been migrated to the Nvidia App. The new program is faster and more efficient than the Control Panel, Nvidia emphasizes.

With driver update 610.47 WHQL, Nvidia is completing a phased migration that began in 2024 with the launch of the Nvidia App. At the time, the app replaced GeForce Experience as the central software for driver updates and game optimizations and has since been expanded with more and more Control Panel functions.
In the Nvidia App, the replacement for the 3D settings can be found under “Graphics > Program Settings.” All other options, including display settings, are housed in the “System” tab. The Control Panel was most recently popular, especially among experienced users who preferred its direct control over the modern app interface.
Otherwise, the new graphics driver 610.47 WHQL primarily brings support for the recently released action game “007 First Light,” which was launched with DLSS 4.5. Support for “Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight” has also been improved.
