Netflix: "3 Body Problem" gets two more seasons and ends
Netflix adapted the first book in the Trisolaris trilogy fairly faithfully in eight episodes. Parts 2 and 3 of the trilogy are now set for two more seasons.

Netflix wants to "finish" the science fiction epic "3 Body Problem" in two further seasons. The US streaming service has now announced this, clearing up some uncertainties regarding the first announcement about the future of the series. Netflix does not specify how many episodes the two seasons will contain, but after the first one contained eight, it is at least reasonable to assume that there will be 16 more. The creators of the series also explain that although they could have included a lot that they loved about the book in the first season, "the majority of the reasons we wanted to make this series are in season 2". They had always wanted to get to the last page of the book and it was "very, very exciting" that they could now do so.
"The story gets really wild"
After the science fiction series was released at the beginning of March, Netflix only gave assurances a month later that the story from the book by Chinese author Cixin Liu would be brought to a close. However, this could have meant that there would only be a few more episodes, as well as several seasons - and various alternatives in between. Now there is much more clarity. According to Deadline, D.B. Weiss, one of the people responsible for the series, has announced that things are getting really wild. Over the past few months, they have been racking their brains over how to realize the increasingly fantastic storylines of "The Dark Forest" and "Beyond Time" - parts 2 and 3 of the underlying novel trilogy.

Trisolaris tells the story of humanity in a world in which an astrophysicist makes contact with aliens in order to help them destroy humans. From then on, things become increasingly gigantic and eventually the fate of the universe is at stake. The author himself writes that he wanted to show how unhistorical it is to generally assume that aliens have the noblest motives and not - as in his books - the "worst intentions". The Netflix adaptation is fairly faithful to the original, but the focus of the plot is much less on China and Chinese people. The following seasons should now be all about humanity's fight for survival.
