OnTrac: New Dyson speakers come without a mask
Dyson has introduced a second generation of headphones after the Zone: The OnTrac comes without the questionable face mask.

Vacuum cleaner specialist Dyson has presented its second Bluetooth headphones: The OnTrac blocks out unwanted sound using ANC, can be configured in different colors and, unlike the Dyson Zone, does without the face mask including air purification.
This makes the OnTrac a largely ordinary, circumaural ANC headset. Dyson wants to stand out from the crowd above all through customizability. Buyers can individually select the colors of the OnTrac. End caps and ear pads are available in different colors that can be freely combined.

55 hours of battery life
Apart from this, Dyson emphasizes the quality of the active noise cancellation – tests will have to show whether the OnTrac really performs better here than the competition from Sony, Bose and co. Dyson promises that the batteries will last 55 hours with active noise suppression. That is comparatively long. Strictly speaking, the OnTrac has two batteries, which are housed symmetrically in the headband to ensure even weight distribution. Manufacturers usually install the batteries in the ear cup.
Dyson wants to offer its OnTrac headphones for 500 euros in a number of prefabricated color combinations. If you want to customize your headphones, you can buy end caps – a set costs 50 euros. The new Dyson headphones will be available from August 1.
The previous Dyson headphones were a curiosity: the Dyson Zone came with a face mask that was supposed to clean the air in front of the mouth. In the heise+ test, this mask attached to the ear cups proved to be a rickety plastic part that made a lot of noise and attracted unwanted attention. The Dyson mask also reduced the battery life. However, the sound of the Dyson Zone was already decent – the manufacturer could build on this with the OnTrac.
