VR glasses: Sony's PS VR2 gets PC adapter
Sony's VR headset PS VR2 can also be used on a PC from August. You will need to purchase an official adapter for 60 euros.

Sony's VR headset PS VR2 will be compatible with the PC: from August 7, Sony wants to sell an adapter box that can be used to connect the glasses to the PC. The adapter will cost 60 euros, Sony writes in a blog entry. Until now, the VR headset could only be used on the Playstation 5.
An adapter is required because PS VR2 only has a single USB-C cable. The adapter is connected to the PC with a DisplayPort 1.4 cable, which must be purchased separately. Another requirement is a computer that meets the minimum requirements for PS VR2 and a Steam account. The SteamVR titles can then be played via this, above all "Half-Life: Alyx". In principle, however, you should be able to play all titles from the Steam VR library with PS VR2.
Functional restrictions
Back in February, Sony announced that PS VR2 would be made compatible with the PC. Sony launched its new VR headset on the market in February 2023. However, there have been hardly any blockbuster games for VR on the PS5 recently: the range of games was already meagre at the launch of the PS VR2, and the Playstation company's latest productions are also not compatible with the PS VR2.
Thanks to PC compatibility, buyers of the headset can look forward to a significantly increased range of games, as long as they also buy the adapter and have a powerful gaming PC. At the same time, Sony points out that the gaming experience on the PC will have some limitations.
Features such as HDR, the headset's vibration feedback, eye-tracking and the controllers' adaptive triggers are not available when gaming on PC via the headset. So if you want the full gaming experience, you still have to play on the Playstation 5. However, if you primarily want to play VR on the PC, you have a larger selection of headset candidates anyway.
