Web-Tipps: Apples Alternativkarten
Apple's map service is now available as a website. The beta version does not yet have all the functions, but is a Google alternative.
Apple has had its own map service as an app for iOS and macOS for twelve years. However, the manufacturer has only been making the service available to everyone in the form of a website for just over a month. The service, initially labeled as a beta version, does not have the full range of functions of the app version. The website calculates routes for cars and pedestrians. However, navigation for bicycles and public transport is still missing. The map service offers "Standard", "Hybrid" (combination of satellite and standard) and "Satellite" map views. It does not show 3D buildings, just like Apple's Street View competitor "Look Around".
The so-called Guides, which summarize editorial content on places and sights, are already integrated. "Find Nearby" shows places such as restaurants or stores on the currently displayed map.
