Dell is doing away with the majority of its brand names for the CES 2025 tech trade fair: Although the manufacturer established the brands sometimes decades ago, there will be no more new Inspiron, Latitude, Optiplex, Precision or XPS in the future. Instead, Dell is focusing on the company name: all devices for end customers will be called Dell, those for business customers Dell Pro and workstations Dell Pro Max (a certain company from Cupertino sends its regards). So far, no manufacturer has ever sidelined brand names so radically, even though HP, for example, has only had two segments since last year (OmniXX for private customers and EliteXX for business customers).

To differentiate between the three pillars, Dell is introducing name extensions. The 14-inch models of the three former Latitude families 5000, 7000 and 9000 will be called Dell Pro 14, Dell Pro 14 Plus and Dell Pro 14 Premium in the 2025 generation. Other name additions are also possible: A hybrid device with a touchscreen in the mid-range segment is called the Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1. A future successor to the XPS 13 premium notebook should run under the name Dell 13 Premium, while inexpensive Inspiron entry-level devices will come without an addition, i.e. Dell 14.

The CES innovations also include the Dell 32 Plus, which is not a notebook, but a 32-inch monitor with a QD OLED display and 4K resolution in the mid-range segment. And if there is no number in the name, but additions such as Micro, Slim or Tower, then it is a desktop PC.

There are only two exceptions that confirm the general rule. For example, there will be no Dell premium monitors by name: The UltraSharp brand name will remain for this class. And gaming systems with and without batteries will continue to run under the Alienware brand.
