Auch von Intel erwartet man demnächst sehr deutliche Preissenkungen -- immerhin hat sich der Marktführer offiziell schon fast ein Vierteljahr [41] lang zurückgehalten; trotzdem verlor AMD Marktanteile an Intel [42]. Wegen der insgesamt eher schlechten Verkaufszahlen [43] im PC-Markt sind aber massive Preissenkungen bei allen Prozessorherstellern wahrscheinlich. In den USA bieten Einzelhändler den Pentium 4 2,53 GHz schon deutlich unter dem offiziellen 1000-er Listenpreis an. Einen Testbericht des AMD Athlon XP 2600+ bringt c't [44] in der kommenden Ausgabe 18/2002 (ab Montag, 26.08., im Handel).
