Nissan Qashqai facelift: Infotainment and exterior refreshed
Nissan is giving its best-selling Qashqai a makeover. The front is a little more expressive, the entertainment electronics more modern.

In Germany, the Qashqai is Nissan's bestseller, and with an almost dramatic lead. Last year, Nissan's second-placed model, the Juke, achieved just under a third of the Qashqai's registration figures with 5,000, while other models from the brand are in some cases significantly lower. Nissan wants to keep the SUV fresh with a facelift. However, the company has not made any major changes.
Armored shed
The SUV format is sometimes accused of basically satisfying its drivers' need for safety. Perhaps it was this that prompted Nissan to verbally draw inspiration for the modified front end from the "structures of ancient Japanese armored sheds". Before you cringe: The Qashqai remains a visually rather well-behaved car. New is a small radiator grille whose elements are identical to the daytime running lights. A few equipment-dependent color applications around the wheel arches and at the height of the sills almost complete the exterior changes.

Google integrated
Inside, the Qashqai retains one of its most important advantages: Largely intuitive operation. This is no longer a matter of course. Nissan has revised the entertainment electronics. The Qashai is the first Nissan model in Europe to integrate Google services. Nissan promises that not only can the usual search engine services be used in this way, but also some vehicle functions can be controlled via voice command. In addition, the Google app store will be opened up - how far-reaching this will be remains to be seen. It will now also be possible to use Amazon Alexa, a system that constantly listens attentively and interprets the request for certain music or news, for example.
Minimal mode
Anyone who fears that their car has been stolen can immobilize it remotely via an app and share its location with the authorities. A new 3D view with eight perspectives and a virtualized view under the front axle should help when parking. Another new feature is the ability to save parking positions, which the car can then navigate to on its own. A "minimal mode" has been retrofitted to the instrument cluster, which is intended to be less distracting. Only the currently engaged gear (why actually?), driving mode and speed are displayed.

Information on prices and engines still missing
Until now, the Nissan Qashqai has been available with three engines. The technically interesting, serial hybrid drive is described in detail in the press package insert, although it remains in the range in identical form. When asked, Nissan did not want to answer whether there would be any changes to the 1.3 liter engine, which was previously available in the Qashqai with 103 and 116 kW. This also applies to the prices. In the current price list from October 1 2023, the base model is listed at 29,440 euros. The top model is officially available from 48,970 euros. A slight surcharge is to be expected, although Nissan will not overdo it in this respect. After all, the brand wants to keep the best-selling Qashqai attractive, and one of the big plus points of this SUV is that it is priced comparatively fairly.
