Apple Event 2024 on September 9 confirmed – iPhone 16 ahead
Apple is holding its annual iPhone event a day earlier than expected. This is apparently to avoid the expected TV duel in the US election campaign.
Apple will unveil new iPhone models this year on Monday, September 9, 2024. The company confirmed the event under the motto "It's Glowtime". It will no longer take place live, but will be streamed as a pre-recorded video. It will begin at 7 p.m. Central European Summer Time. Mac & i will accompany the event and the announcements with a live ticker. The date has been chosen a day earlier than originally expected, apparently so as not to get in the way of the TV duel between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump in the US election campaign, which is expected to take place on September 10.
iPhones, watches and AirPods expected
Apple's September event is usually dominated by iPhones, this time the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro. No fundamental changes are expected to the line-up or the devices. Apple is expected to equip the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max with slightly larger displays. A new hardware button on the side will enable the camera to be controlled. Detailed improvements to the iPhone camera system are also to be expected. Apple is likely to upgrade the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus with an action button, which made its debut in the Pro series last year.
It is also possible that Apple will once again focus on its AI package Apple Intelligence, which still lacks numerous functions in current betas. Furthermore, Apple Intelligence only runs from the iPhone 15 Pro onwards, omitting last year's base models iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
In addition to iPhones, new smartwatches are also likely to be on the announcement list. A thinner Apple Watch Series 10 with a significantly larger display is expected, with the larger model reportedly coming close to the Ultra. So far, only minimal improvements have been predicted for the Apple Watch Ultra 3. New AirPods 4 are also likely to be on Apple's agenda, which will reportedly be launched in two versions – a new entry-level model and a version with active noise cancellation.
iPhone 16 (Pro): Price and sales launch in Germany
Apple may start accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro on September 13, with the iPhone 16 launching on September 20. Prices have not yet been leaked, but are likely to be based on the iPhone 15 series and range from a good 900 euros to probably over 2000 euros. Apple is expected to release the iOS 18 update to the public in mid-September.
