There is growing evidence of a remake of “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion”. Rumors about a possible remake of the classic role-playing game have been circulating for months. Now a well-known leaker and the gaming medium Videogameschronicle have confirmed that the remake will be released in the coming weeks.
NateTheHate is a video game insider who has often been right with his predictions, most recently correctly predicting the announcement date of the Switch 2. In a post on Platform X, he writes that the announcement of the “Oblivion Remake” should take place in March or April at the latest. The release was originally planned for June, but an earlier release is now likely.
He is backed up by Videogameschronicle: the video game magazine's sources also assume that developer Bethesda will present the “Oblivion” remake in the coming weeks. The release could even be as early as April, writes Videogameschronicle.
Development in China?
The remake of 'Oblivion' is reportedly being developed by Chinese studio Virtuos using Unreal Engine 5. Virtuos is primarily known for game porting and helped develop the 'Horizon' games for the PC, for example. The studio also supports other teams in their work – Virtuos has worked on patches for “Cyberpunk 2077”, for example.

“Oblivion” was launched in 2006 as the fourth installment in Bethesda's “Elder Scrolls” role-playing game series. At the time of its release, “Oblivion” was often compared unfavorably with its predecessor “Morrowind”, but today the role-playing game is considered an absolute classic of the genre. Several DLCs were released after the main game, including the highly acclaimed “The Shivering Isles,” which offered players a completely new game world.
Bethesda has not yet commented on reports of a remake or remaster of the role-playing game.
