The lonely beauty

(Image: Otto Hitzegrad)

"As I like to cycle around the outskirts of Bremen, this poppy flower in a cornfield caught my eye. It was precisely because it was so isolated in the green field that it was my subject. I actually wanted to take close-ups and had a 105 mm macro lens on my camera. But the framing was just right. With an aperture of 2.8, the surroundings also blurred well," says Otto Hitzegrad about his picture The Lonely Beauty.

In post-processing, he added a little partial motion blur, which symbolizes the wind and rounds off the mood. When you look at the picture, you can almost feel the light breeze.

Silence

(Image: Lula)

Stillness by Lutz Lange (Lula) shows a picture that is very calm, but also a little mystical. The stones in the foreground offer the viewer a fixed point from which the gaze glides through the composition.

"The photo was taken during a photo tour on the Baltic Sea near Rerik. The gathering sea mist and the few waves created this calm atmosphere. I reinforced this impression with the long exposure," he wrote to us.

Gallery photographer Klicker3D allowed himself a play on words with his picture elementar. The lettering on the airplane is photographed in such a way that only the air part remains and, as we know, this is elementary both for flying and for people.

The dark clouds in the upper part of the picture provide a contrast to the light paneling and the blue details of the paintwork. The windows have turned yellow over time and are an additional eye-catching accent.

Teufelsberg Berlin

The reflection and the setting sun are the eye-catchers in the picture Teufelsberg Berlin by SonyAlpha380. The damaged cover of the radar station and the graffiti contribute to the dystopian mood created by the image style. The photo was taken as part of a workshop on lost-place photography.

Belvedere Palace (Vienna)

(Image: Der Auenländler)

"The Belvedere Palace (Vienna) wasn't all that spectacular in the photo. But I quite liked the reflection of the building in the large water basin," wrote Der Auenländler about his shot.

The low saturation makes the picture look like a high-key shot. This ensures that the details on the façade and the reflection in the water are shown to their best advantage. The people in front of the castle are almost unnoticeable and look more like statues that are part of the overall concept of the gardens.

Goldener Lauf

Goldener Lauf by Lightpix84 is the perfect snapshot of a duck taking off. The run-up in the water is documented by the frozen water droplets and forms a beautiful line towards the bird.

The individual animal and the yellow coloration created by the rising sun and the morning mist round off the mood. Together, they convey a feeling of emptiness and calm.

on the beach IV

Although many people and movements can be seen in the photograph on Beach IV by photofriend2000, the elevated position from which the picture was taken creates a sense of distance from the action. The vastness of the beach and the overexposure of individual elements contribute to the fact that the viewer takes on the role of an observer.

"My wife and I spent our vacation at the North Sea. That day we were in Sankt-Peter-Ording. It was early September and the autumn winds were already starting to blow hard. I was standing on top of a platform of one of the beach houses on stilts. The fantastic backlight stretched across the whole beach. The situation was fantastic to watch. The black and white conversion added the finishing touch," reports the photographer.
