Claude now also available in Europe

The AI assistant Claude from Anthropic is now also available in Europe. The ChatGPT competitor has been available as an API for developers since the beginning of the year. Now private individuals and companies can also use the apps and the web service. According to media reports, the fact that Claude was not previously available was due to stricter data protection regulations in Europe.

The newly activated services for Europe include Claude.ai, the web-based version of the AI assistant, the iOS app and the Claude Team plan. In tests in March, Claude 3 performed better than GPT-4.

Three models included

According to the manufacturer, Claude 3 can perform complex cognitive tasks that go beyond simple pattern recognition and text generation. There are three models: Haiku as the fastest model for light tasks, Sonnett, which is intended to provide a middle ground between performance and speed, and Opus, which is recommended for complex analysts, multi-step tasks, programming and for mathematical equations.

Claude has a high level of understanding and fluency in French, German, Spanish, Italian and other European languages, the manufacturer promises.

This is how much Claude costs

Claude.ai and the iOS app are available free of charge. A subscription to Claude Pro, which unlocks all models including Claude 3 Opus, costs 18 euros plus VAT per month. The Team plan costs 28 euros plus VAT per person per month, with a minimum of five seats.
