Deezer: Almost a fifth of the music tracks submitted are already AI-generated
Deezer prides itself on having the best detector for AI-generated music – and it is necessary. Every fifth track submitted comes from Suno & Co.

Almost a fifth of the music tracks uploaded to Deezer have already been generated entirely by an AI. The French streaming service has now announced this. More than 20,000 AI songs are uploaded every day. In January, only 10 percent of uploaded tracks were AI-generated, so in just three months the proportion has almost doubled. At Deezer, AI music is recognized with the help of a tool that has only been in use since the beginning of the year. The patents for this were only filed in December. Deezer claims that it can recognize AI music from the most widespread generators with 100% certainty.
AI music should not be suggested
Aurelien Herault from Deezer now speaks of a flood of AI music breaking onto streaming platforms like his own. There are also no signs that this is slowing down. The technology responsible for this “has the potential to positively influence the creation and consumption of music”, but a sense of responsibility and caution are required. The rights and income of artists must be protected, and listeners have a right to transparency. According to the announcement, music recognized as AI-generated will not be deleted from the Deezer library, but will be removed from the automatic suggestions.

Deezer introduced the tool in January and explained that it aims to recognize AI-generated music with a higher hit rate than other providers. Existing tools could be extremely effective if they were trained with data from a single AI music generator. But the recognition rate would drop drastically when it came to other generators. Deezer's tool does not have this problem and can recognize songs that come from different generators, including Suno and Udio, for example. The streaming service also points out that it is campaigning against the unlicensed use of art for AI training.
