Fire hazard: Humane warns against AI Pin charging case
The manufacturer Humane advises against using the charging case of the AI Pin AI gadget. In at least one case, a fire has occurred.

The Humane AI Pin is having a hard time: not only did the AI gadget come off badly in tests, but now the charging case supplied with it also poses a fire hazard. Manufacturer Humane is currently informing its customers of this in an email published by US media.
"As a precautionary measure, we would like to ask you to stop using your charging case for charging due to a problem with the battery cells," Humane writes to customers, according to Engadget. The basis for this warning is a single report from a user who had used the charging case with a charging cable and power supply from a third-party manufacturer.
An investigation then found that the battery supplier no longer met Humane's quality standards. "Certain battery cells supplied by this supplier may pose a fire risk". The cooperation with the supplier was discontinued. According to Humane, the actual AI pin and the charging pad pose no risk whatsoever and can still be used safely.
There is still no information on how Humane intends to proceed. It is currently unclear whether Humane intends to replace the charging case and whether all devices are affected. The charging case was sold separately in the USA for 150 US dollars. The AI gadget from the US start-up was not offered in Germany.
Scathing test reports
The AI Pin is an AI gadget with a camera that was thrown into the ring by the manufacturer as a potential smartphone replacement. Reviews of the AI Pin were scathing: In tests, the AI Pin sometimes responded very sluggishly to requests and in many cases replied with incorrect information. The built-in camera does not provide good videos and the device often heats up, according to tests by US media. In the USA, the AI Pin is sold for 700 US dollars. A subscription of 24 US dollars per month is also required to use it.
According to Bloomberg, Humane is currently looking for a buyer for the company. According to the report, Humane is aiming for a sale price of between 750 million and one billion US dollars.
