Light and fireworks show: Sky Elements combines drones with pyrotechnics
The US company Sky Elements has combined a drone show with pyrotechnics for the first time in the USA. The company now has FAA approval.

The US drone entertainment company Sky Elements Drone Shows, which is known for its night-time drone shows, has now combined its illuminated drones with pyrotechnics to conjure up particularly impressive effects in the night sky. This can be seen in a short video posted on YouTube on Monday. The company had received the necessary authorization from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which it claims is the first ever granted for this purpose.
Sky Elements used a total of 300 drones to demonstrate the technique, which combines a drone light show with pyrotechnics launched from special devices on drones. The fireworks can be launched remotely at any time. This allows the typical drone light effects to be combined with those of fireworks. This enables dazzling effects in the form of waterfalls or shooting star-like effects.
It took some time to obtain the necessary approval from the FAA. The approval process took around 26 months until the technology was mature enough to guarantee sufficient air safety during the shows.
Combined light and firework show
During the light and fireworks show with the drones, which took place on Monday, the quadcopters drew a bald eagle in the sky with points of light. Twelve of the drones had been equipped and positioned so that firework waterfalls emerged from the wingtips of the virtual bird of prey.

Sky Elements is currently the only US company licensed by the FAA to perform such combined light and fireworks shows.
Sky Elements Drones Shows is based in Fort Worth in the US state of Texas. The company holds six Guinness World Records, including for having recreated the largest aerial image with multicopter drones. The company operates nationally in the USA and internationally and is mainly booked for major events.
