MX Creative Console: Logitech introduces macro console
The first macro keyboard has a rotary control and colorful LCD buttons. This should enable creative programs in particular to be operated more efficiently.

The accessory manufacturer launches a new input device. The MX Creative Console is a two-part macro console with programmable buttons and a wireless rotary controller that can be connected to a Mac or PC. Logitech's target group is primarily creative professionals who want to use the device for film editing or image processing, for example.
On-screen buttons and knobs
The set consists of two devices: The macro keyboard called MX Creative Keypad is connected to a PC or Mac via USB cable. It has nine colored LCD keys that are supposed to shine brightly up to 600 candela/m2 and can be assigned commands. Two buttons can be used to scroll forwards and backwards if you want to use more functions. According to Logitech, up to 15 actions per application are possible. The keypad can be laid flat on the table or set up at an angle in a small stand.
The MX Creative Dialpad is connected to the computer either via Bluetooth or via Logitech's proprietary "Bolt" USB dongle, although the latter is not included. The Bluetooth range is said to be up to ten meters. The heart of the dialpad is a large aluminum rotary wheel. This can be used to scroll through the timeline when editing videos or producing music, for example. Four buttons are arranged around the wheel, which can be assigned common functions such as "Undo" or "Redo". A slider at the top right is used to zoom in and out smoothly.
While the Creative Keypad is powered via a USB-C cable, the wireless dialpad requires two AAA batteries for operation.
Software support
All elements of the Creative Console can be freely configured by the user. The configuration is done via the free Options+ application, which can also be used to customize other Logitech peripherals such as keyboards or mice. Plug-ins with ready-made commands can be installed for some applications. Logitech has collaborated with Adobe, for example, who have prepared profiles for Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom Classic, Illustrator, After Effects and Audition for the launch. Profiles have also been announced for Spotify Premium, Zoom. Ableton Live, Philips Hue, vMix (Windows) and Capture One (macOS).
Further plug-ins and program icons will be added later via a dedicated marketplace. Those who familiarize themselves with the software will also be able to create their own profiles and store keyboard shortcuts, for example. This allows you to open folders, control media or call up your favorite websites at the touch of a button.
Prices and availability
Logitech only offers the Creative Console as a set with keypad and dialpad for 229.99 euros. It is available in graphite and gray and will be available from October 14, 2024. The manufacturer also plans to make the updated version of Options+, which supports the Creative Console, available at that time.
Macro keyboards are not only popular in image editing. Devices such as the Stream Deck from Elgato are used for live broadcasts via stream or in conferences. In June 2023, Logitech acquired the manufacturer Loupedeck, which already offered macro keyboards for creative professionals. Loupedeck consoles are still available.
