Mac mini to go: New bag for the M4
Apple's new Mac mini has shrunk significantly once again. With a special bag, it can now also be transported accident-free.

Transporting desktop Macs has never been as easy as it is today: with the Mac mini M4, Apple shrank its smallest desktop computer even further last year. The San Francisco-based bag and accessories specialist Waterfield Designs has now taken this as an opportunity to offer its transport case for the smallest Mac. So anyone who wants to carry their Mac mini M4 from the office to home or from home to the office, for example, can now do so well protected.
Mac mini becomes portable
The product is called Shield Case for Mac mini and is explicitly adapted to the size of the M4 model. It is padded on the sides, base, and lid and covered with an “ultra-soft” material on the inside. Two versions are available: One in simple, black “ballistic” nylon with black leather accents on the top and one in waxed canvas material with chocolate-colored leather, which is a Waterfield Designs trademark.
The case has a carrying ring, but does not come with a carrying loop for a carabiner. Accordingly, the case is designed to be carried in a backpack or other bag. A small area at the front with a zipper can be used to “discreetly” hide an AirTag so that the case can be found again if necessary.
Specific M4 shape
Waterproof zippers from YKK are also installed, which can be secured with a small padlock. The zippers are installed in such a way that they do not scratch the Mac mini. Visually, the case is kept rather simple and minimalist, especially the black nylon version looks very inconspicuous. However, the Mac mini M4 also has a specific size that connoisseurs are likely to notice from a distance. A nice detail: There is also a slot for the Mac mini M4's power cable on the outside of the case. Fortunately, the compact Mac does not need a power supply unit.
Interestingly, the Shield Case for Mac mini – does not have the M4 in its name, but is only suitable for this – from Waterfield Designs and costs 99 US dollars plus shipping and any import sales tax. The manufacturer sells directly from its website. The first batch is currently sold out, but a second batch is scheduled to ship on January 24.
