Microsoft has released version 0.82 of Powertoys. It is intended to correct some errors and improve stability and the Advanced Paste function. There are also various improvements to details.
In the release announcement, the Microsoft developers explain the outstanding changes, among other things. PowerRename now has the option to use sequences of random characters and UUIDs for renaming files. The advanced paste function, now called "Advanced Paste", now handles CSV separators better when using "Paste directly as JSON" and can and can convert .ini files.
Further minor corrections in Powertoys 0.82
Powertoys makes extensive use of the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) for the user interface. In the color picker and in Powertoys Run there were some display problems after porting to WPF UI, which have now been corrected. A memory leak could occur in Advanced Paste because images were not deleted correctly from the clipboard history. In addition, the developers have added improved telemetry to get better data on token usage and determine if the clipboard history is a popular feature.
The File Explorer plug-ins could crash if the preview handlers received a 64-bit handle from the operating system. If the preview wanted to update the Windows boundaries, but File Explorer had already disposed of the preview, this could also cause a crash. Version 0.82 of Powertoys also corrects this. The release announcement lists even more minor changes.
The update to the new version can be initiated via the integrated update search in the "General" tab.

- Powertoys 0.82 ARM64 (user-based installation)
- Powertoys 0.82 x64 (system-wide installation)

The big innovation in Powertoys 0.81 was the AI-supported Advanced Paste function. As the first annoying bugs were reported fairly quickly, the developers quickly released the hotfix version 0.81.1.
