Report: Discord is apparently aiming for an IPO before 2025
According to a media report, the people behind the chat platform are considering taking their company public and are holding initial talks.

According to a media report, the messaging and video chat platform Discord is preparing an IPO. The company has met with investment banks in recent weeks to prepare the move for this year, the New York Times reports, citing negotiating circles. Discord was estimated to be worth just under 15 billion US dollars in 2021.
The anonymous sources also stated that the confidential talks are still at an early stage. Accordingly, no decisions have yet been made on details such as which bank to cooperate with. Discord itself did not want to comment on the speculation to the New York Times.
There were talks between Microsoft and Discord in 2021. At the time, the software giant wanted to buy the chat platform for ten billion US dollars. However, those responsible at Discord rejected the offer at the time. An IPO was also suspected at the time.

The platform created by Jason Citron and Stanislav Vishnevskiy has been open to the public since 2015 and is very popular in the gaming scene. However, other users from all kinds of interest groups have also set up communities on Discord and communicate there via chat and video calls.
