Giant mod "Fallout London" released via GOG
A DLC-sized mod: Because "Fallout London" is too big for the usual hosting sites, the modification is now being distributed via GOG.
The "Fallout 4" mod "Fallout London" will be released on GOG: The gaming platform will make the mod available for download as an installer from Wednesday afternoon, operator CD Projekt has announced. A GOG team had previously carried out quality tests on the modification developed by modding team Folon.
The creators describe "Fallout London" as a "DLC"-sized mod that relocates the typically American setting of the "Fallout" series to Great Britain for the first time. The team recorded over 90,000 lines of dialog for the mod - that's only slightly less than in "Fallout 4" and significantly more than in "Skyrim". The game world of "Fallout London" is said to be larger than that of "Fallout 4", and the developers also promise over 100 quests.

The mod can be downloaded free of charge from GOG. To play it, you need the main game "Fallout 4" and all expansions - either on Steam or on GOG. The version from the Epic Games Store is currently not supported and a console version is not planned.
Anyone who owns the Steam version will also have to downgrade because "Fallout London" is not compatible with the next-gen patch for "Fallout 4". Corresponding downgraders can already be found on Nexusmods, but the "Fallout London" team also wants to provide its own tool. Owners of the GOG version will automatically have the correct version, the GOG team promises in a statement.
Professional mod development
The years-long development of "Fallout London" was exceptionally professional for the modding scene and was regularly accompanied by trailers and community updates. According to the company, the team consists of hobby developers as well as some professionals from the games industry. Development is supported by Patreon donations and the team also sells merchandise.
Mods are user-created "modifications" to video games that adapt game mechanics, change textures or add items. Time and again, particularly large modding projects attract attention - but they are rarely completed to a satisfactory quality. The fact that GOG, a major gaming platform, is involved in the release is a kind of accolade for the modders and could indicate a particularly high standard of mod.
