X now officially allows porn on the platform
Pornography and nudity have long been tolerated on X (formerly Twitter). Now the platform has clarified its rules and officially allows it.

The short message service X (formerly Twitter) has changed its rules to officially allow adult content. In the past, Twitter already tolerated pornography on the platform to a limited extent. The new rules are merely intended to provide more transparency, but do not change what content is being taken action against, the network emphasized über its official safety account.
According to the new guidelines, consensual content showing adult nudity or sexuality is permitted, provided it is labeled. Such labeling can be activated via the media settings. It ensures that a content warning is displayed before images and videos. The corresponding photos or videos will only be displayed once the user has confirmed this. The new rules also apply to AI-generated content and comics.
Where porn content remains taboo
According to the new entry in X's Help Center, users under the age of 18 or accounts without a date of birth should not be shown the content in the first place. According to X, it is still forbidden to publish pornographic or other adult content in live videos, profile pictures or header banners.
Content warnings are not required for images and videos that serve educational purposes, address medical topics or serve activist purposes such as nude demonstrations.
Nudity as a revenue generator?
Observers suspect that with its new rules, X also wants to take a step towards commercial content providers who could use the service as an alternative to platforms such as Onlyfans. Under the name X Premium, X has introduced the option for followers to view additional content in return for payment to the provider. Since its introduction, creators of NFSW (Not Safe For Work) content have also made use of this, having previously only used X/Twitter as a promotion platform for their content on Onlyfans and other services. X earns a share of the revenue and is more dependent than ever on new sources of income following a slump in the advertising business.
