The weekend began with good news for German developer Florian Seida: according to his own statement, he is one of the winners of this year's Swift Student Challenge. He was successful with an app called SwimPath, which teaches swimming step by step in 3D animations and also uses augmented reality.
This is actually the second time that the South German has been on the virtual podium, he wrote in an initial reaction to X. Being recognized by Apple as a talented young developer is likely to look good on his CV. On top of that, there is a free one-year membership in Apple's developer program and AirPods Max as a prize. Selected 50 of the 350 winners will also be invited to California for the start of the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) and spend three days at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino.
Newcomers also successful
Social networks were teeming with posts on Thursday where participants in the challenge announced their results. Some, like Kunal Phalak, only started learning the Apple programming language Swift and Swift UI a few months ago. His app "Relay" also made it onto the winners' podium. The app is designed to help improve emotional intelligence.
Apple's annual programming competition entered the hot phase in February. WWDC is always the ceremonial finale and is a dream destination for many of the pupils and students who attend. This year's conference takes place from June 9 to 13.
Other developers still have to wait
Participants from Germany had to be at least 16 years old, Swiss at least 18 and Austrians at least 14 years old. In addition, participants had to either attend an accredited educational institution, be enrolled in an educational program of a STEM organization or have graduated from high school or a similar school within the last six months.
All other developers who have registered to attend in person in Cupertino will have to be patient. The selected participants will not be notified by Apple until the beginning of April.
