iPhone 17 Air and 17 Pro: Apparently changes planned for camera "bump"
Apple is launching the iPhone 17 product line in the fall. A lot could change visually, and of course the inner workings too.

Apple is about to make some changes to the form factor of the iPhone 17. This is suggested by fresh leaks from various rumor mongers, which revolve around both the camera area and the hardware itself. There are also reports about the type of display panel used in the new models, which are expected from September.
Camera bar instead of camera bump
According to Front Page Tech (FPT), the two Pro models (17 Pro and 17 Pro Max) will come with a new camera “bump” on the back. This is said to be elongated across the width of the device instead of just being a square area on the left side, as is currently the case. This supposedly results in a “two-tone finish” with a darker area of the new “camera bar”. The purpose of all this remains unclear, especially as FPT continues to arrange the image sensors on one side. Instead, the microphone and flash are on the right. “Camera bars” already exist on Google devices, although the image sensors are also placed side by side.
In another video, FPT describes the “iPhone 17 Air”, which is supposed to be Apple's thinnest iPhone ever. Here too, the render images show a “camera bar” across the entire width of the device, including a contrasting color scheme. There is allegedly only a single camera, which means that the devices would not be suitable for spatial video. The truth of the FPT rumors remains unclear – Their author, Jon Prosser, has been right and wrong several times in the past. He relies on insiders for his videos.
Thin, thinner, Air
The Weis design studio also provides a render of the “iPhone 17 Air” on Instagram. Here, the “camera bar” is also integrated, but in the same tone as the device housing and the flash and microphone have been moved to the sensor. It is currently assumed that the first Air will be delivered with a 6.6-inch display and will be 5.5 mm thick. According to Prosser, the new “Camera Bar” will not be available on the iPhone 17 standard model, which will reportedly retain the old design.
The Weibo account Digital Chat Station also predicts changes to the design. Here, too, there is talk of a “Camera Bar”. There are reportedly no changes to the OLED displays: according to another Weibo leak, these will once again come from Samsung and correspond to the M14 system. These are intended for flagship smartphones. Finally, another render image of the iPhone 17 Pro comes from FPT designer Asher.
