iPhone 17: Apple is reportedly planning a new flagship and entry-level model
Apple is working on a fresh line-up for 2025: an extremely thin 'iPhone 17 Slim' with a new design is to sit above the Pro Max – also in terms of price.

Apple's iPhone model range is apparently about to undergo a major change: according to a report, the manufacturer is working on a new, particularly thin smartphone for the 2025 model year. The model, previously known as the "iPhone 17 Slim", is said to herald a fresh design - similar to the "iPhone X" – as well as a further price jump. It could be more expensive than the iPhone 17 Pro Max expected in the fall of next year, as reported by "The Information", citing informed sources. Apple currently sells the iPhone 15 Pro Max from 1450 euros.
"iPhone 17 Slim" as an expensive high-end model
Along with a new design and an aluminum casing, the Slim model is also expected to have an additional display size of a good 6.5 inches. It would therefore lie between the current Pro and Pro Max. According to the report, the main camera system on the back is expected to be positioned at the top center and no longer on the top left. A significantly narrower "Dynamic Island" cut-out on the front is also expected.
According to information from "The Information", Apple plans to continue to offer four variants of the iPhone 17 - and to cancel the Plus model. The line-up could then consist of the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and the even more expensive "iPhone 17 Slim". Just like the iPhone mini before it, the Plus model has also sold less than expected. However, a final new Plus model, the iPhone 16, is also expected this fall. Apple has only slightly changed the design of its flagship models since the 12 series introduced in 2020.
iPhone SE 4 expected with a modern design
An iPhone SE 4 is also likely to make news in the entry-level segment in 2025. Observers expect Apple to bring the model series up to date with a larger screen - so far, the SE still comes with a small display and home button in the old design. There is speculation that the new SE will be based on the iPhone 14 and feature both OLED and Face ID facial recognition. The price should be under 500 US dollars, according to recent reports. The iPhone SE, which was last revised in 2022, is currently still being sold by the manufacturer for just under 530 euros.
