As was the case last year, Apple will probably not launch new Macs on the market until November. As an informed source told Macrumors over the weekend, it will be similar to last year. Back then, Apple showed M3 models of the MacBook Pro and iMac on October 30 during the "Scary fast" event and then started selling them on November 7. "This year could see a similar sequence of events," the report said.

First, however, Apple will present four new iPhone models on September 9. Two revised Apple Watch series (Series 10 and Ultra 3) and new AirPods are also likely to be unveiled. Apple likes to use October to unveil new Macs and iPads, with the latter waiting for a new mini model. A November release would at least leave some time for the Christmas business. All new models should be equipped with M4-SoC – which is currently only found in the iPad Pro M4.

Apple could also simply announce the new computer models in a press release. However, the switch to the new chips is actually reason enough for an event. The company could also show new functions as part of Apple Intelligence. macOS 15 is expected to be available before October, so it would not need to be announced at such an event.

At least four new M4 Macs are expected in October. These are said to be two notebooks and two desktops. There could be two new MacBook Pro base models with 14 and 16 inches, an iMac M4 with 24 inches and a redesigned Mac mini, which will allegedly be smaller than the current – and completely outdated – model in terms of form factor.

However, new Mac Studio and Mac Pro models as well as a MacBook Air M4 are not expected until next year – and it is possible that the machines will also appear with the successor SoC M5. Apple will once again launch the M4 in standard, Pro and Max versions, according to the rumor mill. An Ultra version would be reserved for Mac Studio and/or Mac Pro. The hardware should otherwise be similar to the respective predecessors – except for the aforementioned new Mac mini.
