"LLM Siri": Apple allegedly wants to reorganize voice assistance
Siri doesn't know the answer to most questions – despite Apple Intelligence. New voice models are supposed to fix it, but probably with iOS 19 at the earliest.

Apple is planning a general overhaul of its ageing voice assistant system. According to a report, advanced language models are to form the basis for a more conversational Siri: development and test runs are already underway at Apple, as the financial news agency Bloomberg reports, citing informed persons; internally, the project is called "LLM Siri" – LLM stands for Large Language Models, large AI language models.
New Siri system with iOS 19
According to the report, new, in-house Apple language models will be used, which should ultimately enable natural conversations with the assistance system. The system is also said to be able to answer more complex queries more quickly. "LLM Siri" is currently being tested as a standalone app, explains Bloomberg, but the AI Siri is designed to ultimately replace the existing Siri and be integrated directly into Apple's operating systems.
According to the financial news agency, Apple is working towards unveiling the new voice assistant system in mid-2025 – alongside the unveiling of iOS 19 and macOS 16. However, "LLM Siri" is not expected to be available until 2026.

With the launch of Apple Intelligence, Siri has already received a striking new user interface in iOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1 – but the voice assistance system has learned almost nothing new. For more complex queries, Siri still refers to a web search. From iOS 18.2 onwards, Apple will rely on ChatGPT as a stopgap: Siri will then forward the request to the chatbot if users want it to. Apple has already indicated that support for Google Gemini will follow.
New functions for Siri on the horizon
– At the beginning of 2025, the existing Siri is expected to become more powerful and, as part of Apple Intelligence –, will gain deeper insight into user data as well as extended access and control options for apps. This does not include fluid conversations, such as those offered by ChatGPT's audio mode.
