Qt Creator has reached version 15. The new main version of the cross-platform development environment offers ready-made binaries for Windows on ARM (64-bit version only) for the first time. This brings it into line with the Qt 6.8 framework, which also introduced support for this architecture in October 2024. The other updates include updated light and dark themes, new functions for the extension mode and the official availability of the Axivion plug-in.

Qt Creator 15 brings new light and dark themes with higher contrast and optimized spacing. They are available via Preferences > Environment > Interface > Theme under the names "Dark (2024)" and "Light (2024)". The existing themes have also been given a year as an addition to make them easier to identify.

The development team has also worked on the extension mode. Extensions can now offer more detailed and attractively formatted descriptions thanks to Markdown. The extensions mode will be further expanded in future releases.

Meanwhile, the Axivion plug-in for static code analysis has left preview mode and is now officially available in Qt Creator. Developers can now view the Axivion code analysis view directly in debug mode. This development follows the acquisition of Axivion GmbH by the Qt Company in 2022.

Further updates in Qt Creator 15 concern the handling of CMake projects and the Git version management system as well as optional automatic crash messages under Windows and macOS via Google Crashpad and Sentry.io.

The development environment is available for download as a commercial version and as an open source version for Windows, macOS and Linux.

Further details can be found in a Qt blog entry.
