Microsoft admits further difficulties with the 24H2 update for Windows 11. Microsoft Outlook has problems when using Google Workspace Sync for Outlook. However, some gaming issues have been resolved.
The developers write in the Windows Release Health Notes that after installing Windows 11 24H2, problems can occur when starting Microsoft Outlook if Google Workspace Sync is used. It can be observed that Outlook does not start and that users cannot uninstall or reinstall Google Workspace Sync. An error message then appears that reads: "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The folders cannot be opened. An unexpected error has occurred. MAPI could not load the information service", explains Microsoft.
Google Workspace Sync as an update blocker
Older versions of Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook on the system ensure that the 24H2 update is not offered. The corresponding Safeguard ID is 54318776. The installation of Google Workspace Sync version 4.3.68.0 or newer removes the block. It should be lifted no later than 48 hours after installation and the 24H2 update should be offered on affected machines. Microsoft has not provided a solution to the problem that the Google software cannot be removed or updated after the 24H2 update has been installed.

At the weekend, Microsoft also updated the status of the problem with Ubisoft games that became known at the end of November. The list of games that do not run correctly under Windows 11 24H2 has been reduced to the three "Assassin's Creed" parts "Odyssey", "Origins" and "Valhalla". Hotfixes from Ubisoft are now available for "Star Wars Outlaws" and "Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora".
Microsoft has also reported a further problem with certain Chinese tax return apps and apps for government use. When installing the Windows 11 24H2 update, blue screens may appear and the update may fail as a result. If the update fails, further problems may occur. Blue screens may also be displayed afterwards, the device may automatically revert to a previous Windows version or stability or performance problems may be noticeable during normal use. On affected PCs, the Safeguard ID 54653508 blocks the update.
