For more dialog: ARD Mediathek to get commentary function
Federal states want ARD to interact more with the audience: Soon you will be able to comment in the media library. There's already something new for children.

In future, it will be possible to comment on content in the ARD media library. This was announced by the ARD program directorate to the news agency epd. The fundamental decision in this regard has been made and the conceptual and technical implementation is currently being examined. The aim is to enable comments on content where they offer "added value". It is not yet clear when this will be the case. In contrast, children's profiles have now been introduced.
More dialog with the audience
ARD referred to plans by the federal states as the reason for the plans to introduce a commentary function. They are pushing for a clearer focus on "the topic of dialog". Communication with the audience should therefore be given a higher priority. However, users of the media library have also expressed the wish to be able to comment on programs.

While there is still no timetable for the comments, an innovation has now been implemented in the ARD media library. Since the beginning of the month, children's profiles can be created there, with which only age-appropriate programs can be viewed. To do this, you have to log in to the media library and can then create a separate profile and protect it with a PIN. You can also set an avatar. You can access content from ARD and the children's channel as well as ZDF.
