Porsche and Frauscher show 850-Fantom electric sports boat with Macan drive
Porsche and Frauscher are launching a new electric sports boat. It has a cabin for the first time. The powerful drive comes from the Porsche Macan Turbo.

The sports car manufacturer Porsche and the Austrian shipyard Frauscher are expanding their existing collaboration and presenting the Porsche x Frauscher 850 Fantom, a new electric sports boat with a classic design. Like the first jointly developed electric sports boat, the Porsche x Frauscher 850 Fantom Air, the new boat features a powerful electric motor from the rear of the Porsche Macan Turbo electric SUV. The rest of the drive technology, such as the batteries, also comes from the SUV.
The Porsche x Frauscher 850 Fantom has an enclosed foredeck and a cabin in the bow area. The command post in the middle is open. It is adjoined by seating and lounging facilities at the stern. The boat offers space for a total of seven people. At 8.67 m long and 2.49 m wide, the boat's dimensions are identical to the 850 Fantom Air, which was named the best electric boat at the "Best of Boat" awards in November 2024.
Drive technology from the Porsche Macan Turbo
Inside, the two boats differ only slightly. The 850 Fantom also uses the rear-axle electric motor from the Macan Turbo for propulsion. This is a permanently excited synchronous motor with an output of up to 400 kW. It is the most powerful electric motor variant that Porsche currently has to offer. The boat relies on a classic Z-drive. The motor is located in the hull, while the gearbox with the propeller is attached to the outside of the boat's transom plate.

The motor is controlled by power electronics that regulate the efficiency of the motor. Silicon carbide is used in the pulse inverter. According to Porsche, this enables particularly high switching frequencies to be achieved.
The electricity comes from a high-voltage battery with 100 kWh. It also comes from the Macan Turbo SUV from Porsche. In the boat, it is suspended on cables in order to absorb the immense forces that arise when driving fast and when waves hit. The battery can be charged at DC fast-charging stations with a maximum of 270 kW and at AC charging stations with up to 11 kW.
The electric motor propels the sports boat to a speed of up to 90 km/h (49 kn) in Sport Plus mode. Other driving modes available are Docking, Range and Sport. At slow speeds, the range should be around 100 km, shrinking to 45 km at a normal cruising speed of 41 km/h (22 kn).

The boat's steering position as well as the seating and lounging options are equipped in the usual Porsche luxurious and sporty style. They can be configured in the colors of your choice. LED ambient lighting and underwater lighting at the stern of the boat provide the right lighting mood. Additional features include a folding awning, an audio system with a 12-inch infotainment display including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. An echo sounder and a display for nautical charts are also integrated.
The Porsche x Frauscher 850 Fantom is set to celebrate its premiere at the "Boot" boat show in DĂĽsseldorf in 2025. Initially, the electric sports boat will be limited to 25 units in a "First Edition". The price starts at 572,934 euros. It will be manufactured at the Frauscher shipyard in Ohlsdorf, Austria.
