Solos launches AirGo V smartglasses with ChatGPT to compete with Ray-Ban Meta
The smart glasses offer AI for object recognition and live translations. As well as OpenAI, AirGo Vision also supports Google's Gemini and Anthropic's Claude.

With "AirGo Vision", Solos is offering new smart glasses that support the wearer with artificial intelligence using GPT-4o from OpenAI. This allows objects to be identified, speech and text to be translated and routes to be found. In addition to ChatGPT, other AI models are also supported, such as Google Gemini and Claude from Anthropic. The AI smart glasses are available in various colors and shapes. They also include a frame without cameras for more privacy, which limits the user to audio support.
Solos' AirGo Vision is likely to be serious competition for Meta's Ray-Ban Glasses, which are popular even without AI. In October, the owner of Ray-Ban announced that Ray-Ban Meta Glasses are the best-selling eyewear in 60 percent of Ray-Ban stores in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. AI was not previously a selling point. Meta made certain AI functions for Ray-Ban Meta Glasses available in Europe just a few weeks ago.
AI smart glasses can also be used without a camera
There is no mention of more restrictive EU data protection regulations at Solos, but the manufacturer apparently believes it is on the safe side by optionally dispensing with cameras in the new AI smartglasses. The frame of the AirGo Vision should be easy to replace if the cameras are to be dispensed with. The battery and touch sensors are housed in the temple of the glasses and are connected to the front of the glasses and the lenses via USB-C. Different strengths can also be ordered for the lenses.

"We promised to put consumers in control of their experience with AI and smart technology, especially when it comes to privacy options," explains Solos co-founder Kenneth Fan, according to a company statement on Venturebeat. "That's why we designed frames that can be easily swapped out to decide when and where a camera might be appropriate without sacrificing the fun features."
Battery life of up to 10 hours
According to the manufacturer, the AirGo Vision weighs just 42 grams, but should allow more than 2,500 AI interactions before the smartglasses' battery needs to be recharged. Solos claims a battery life of 10 hours, for example when streaming music, but this is reduced to 7 hours for continuous phone calls. The need to reach for the smartphone is minimized by an always-on mode. According to the company, once the Solos app is open, it runs permanently in the background to maintain the connection to the smart glasses and thus enable hands-free calling and AI functions to be used without the use of hands and fingers.
