The "Ballistic" mode in "Fortnite" is live – if the servers let you into a game. At the start, the matchmaking system seems to be overloaded; starting a game is rather difficult. Epic Games is working on a solution.
"Fortnite Ballistic" is more or less copied from the classic first-person shooter "Counter-Strike". Two teams of five players each play against each other: the attacking team must activate a rupture point device ("Counter-Strike": bomb) at one of two detonation points. The defenders must either prevent this or defuse the device once it has been successfully placed. You cannot build in "Ballistic".

The first player to win seven rounds wins the game. After six rounds there is a change of sides. Players start with a pistol as their basic weapon and 800 credits. Credits can be used to buy additional weapons, shields, grenades and other equipment. Players can drop weapons for other team members and pick them up from killed enemies. Anyone who is too close to the detonation of the rupture point device dies.
To bring something unique to the game concept, there are so-called flex gadgets. At the start of the game, all players choose one of five gadgets that only they can buy during the game. This includes a proximity mine that is automatically triggered when an opponent approaches. "Ballistic can be played both unranked and ranked.

Free-2-Play with the same skins
Epic Games still declares "Fortnite Ballistic" as early access. This mode is also Free-2-Play. Skins and emotes from the other modes are carried over; only pickaxes, contrails, instruments, vehicles and jam songs are not available.
At launch, there is only the Skyline 10 map with a limited selection of weapons. Epic Games plans to expand the scope in the future.
