CD Projekt shows "The Witcher 4" in the first trailer
CD Projekt shows the next "Witcher" game in a trailer for the first time. It is now also clear that the title is "The Witcher 4" or IV.

As part of the Game Awards, Polish studio CD Projekt has unveiled the first trailer for the next action role-playing game in the "Witcher" universe. The developers also confirmed the title: the game is simply called "The Witcher 4", or "The Witcher IV" in Roman 4.
The central role is played by Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon, alias Ciri, who has been familiar to 'Witcher' fans since the third part of the game series at the latest. She follows in the footsteps of the witcher Geralt von Riva – CD Projekt shows a fight against a monster in the trailer. Geralt is to have a small supporting role, so he should still appear in the course of the game. And how could it be otherwise for a new "Witcher" game, the trailer starts with a bathtub.

This is a cinematic trailer: Although the studio rendered it using the underlying Unreal Engine 5, it was scripted and not in real time. The trailer is therefore of little significance, especially in terms of graphics – final games have often looked significantly different from the first trailers.
Meanwhile, there is still a bit of advertising for Nvidia: CD Projekt emphasizes that a graphics card that has not yet been presented rendered the trailer. The first GeForce RTX 5000s are expected to be released in early 2025, and a GeForce RTX 5090 was presumably used here.

Meanwhile, CD Projekt remains silent on the release date of "The Witcher 4". The title only switched to "full production" status in November 2024, meaning that a timely release is out of the question. From 2026 would currently be a reasonable guess. The studio is planning a complete second "Witcher" trilogy in the long term.
