Stairwells, vast deserts and rabbit masks: the pictures of the week
Whether luminous works of art or wind turbines rising through the clouds, – our gallery photographers continue to amaze with extraordinary moments this week.

How diverse and fascinating deserts and lakes can shine in all their uniqueness – or how surprising a portrait of a woman and a staircase can look from the perfect perspective – All this is shown in this week's impressive images.
Beach lights
(Image:Â Secundannte)
Light art that packs a punch: Red and yellow beach lights dance above the ground on the Baltic Sea at night. The bluish shimmering sea forms a colorful contrast to the warm colors of the light painting. The image created by Secundannte has something unusual, almost extraterrestrial about it; a fire jellyfish could also be interpreted as part of the light sculpture.
Earwash
(Image:Â Karsten Gieselmann)
"It looks like an ear – is not the only time I've heard this picture mentioned," thinks Karsten Gieselmann. This stairwell in Antwerp does indeed resemble an ear canal – Ohrwaschl due to the curve of the banister. This photograph is (interior) architectural photography. Stairwells often have very unusual shapes due to the perspective from the bottom up.
Wind turbines above the sea of fog (reload)
(Image:Â Bringfried)
The wind turbines above the sea of fog (reload), which gallery photographer Bringfried von der Hornisgrinde observed, work peacefully while a thick blanket of clouds envelops them. Even if the wind turbines are not part of the natural landscape, they still blend into it and give the overall picture a certain something.
Only AfterDark
(Image:Â Ivan im Abstrakten)
Photographer Ivan's portrait of a woman looks like something out of a film noir. The striking masking, the spotlight and the shadow give the female protagonist that certain something. Only AfterDark – "In the circle of silence, time blows away, a secret remains until the night fades", adds the photo artist lyrically.
Desert colors
(Image:Â Joachim Kopatzki)
The Namib Desert stretched out impressively beneath Joachim Kopatzki as he flew over it on a large sightseeing flight in a specially chartered plane. "This landscape is so wonderful and unique to look at from the air that the photographer doesn't actually have much to do. Pressing the shutter release is enough..." The unique wasteland with its unique desert colors is really something special.
Sheep
(Image: Wolfgang Görgen)
A sheep with a black head stands in the middle of its herd. It is striking that the sheep in the background are white throughout. The black and white image makes the texture of the wool appear particularly vivid – almost tangible. The animal in the center of the picture seems to have discovered the photographer Wolfgang Görgen – and is looking at him curiously.
Misty Fichtelsee
(Image:Â Mike_FJ)
Misty Fichtelsee – This place in Upper Franconia looks quiet and still, while the morning mist envelops the small hut on the jetty. Mike_FJ manages to capture a calm atmosphere in the midst of silence and solitude with this picture. The cold and desaturated colors give the picture a feeling of calm.
