Flyweight notebook: Asus launches lightweight ZenBook A14 with Snapdragon X

Asus is expanding its range of notebooks with Qualcomm's Snapdragon X processor family. The top-of-the-range ZenBook A14 model attracts attention with its low weight: only very few 14-inch laptops weigh around one kilogram. However, because there is a battery with a whopping 70 Wh in the casing, runtimes of over 30 hours should be possible – which would be pretty far ahead even among other Snapdragon notebooks.

For the ZenBook A14, Asus uses its in-house material Ceraluminium, which gives the aluminum base ceramic properties through refinement. The material is not new, but has so far only been used on the outside of the lid. In the A14, the entire casing is made of it.

Asus wants to offer the entire Qualcomm portfolio in the ZenBook A14, from Snapdragon X to Snapdragon X Plus and Snapdragon X Elite. At CES 2025, it was not possible to find out which specific equipment variants are planned for this country. However, they will certainly differ from those in the USA: The North American retail chain Best Buy wants to start at 900 US dollars and will have a special version with an acrylic glass cover on the outside – According to Asus, this will not be available here.

It can be assumed that more technically advanced configurations will be available in Germany, as it will only start at 1200 euros. In addition to the CPU and the obligatory differences in memory expansion, the screen is also variable: depending on the market and local demand, there is a matt IPS panel or a reflective OLED display. The market launch should take place in February.

VivoBook 14/16

The VivoBook series, which until CES included the VivoBook S15, the only Snapdragon notebook from Asus to date, now has more new Qualcomm models. The VivoBook 14/16 has a 14- or 16-inch screen and will come in three colors: silver, gold and blue. Prices start at 900 euros.
