The German robotics company Neura Robotics from Metzingen has raised 120 million euros in a series B financing round for the development of cognitive robots. The Swabians want to use the money to further advance the development of the hardware and software of their robot technology and break the dominance of the USA and China in the field of humanoid robots.

The investment round was led by Lingotto Investement Management. Also on board are Blue Crest Capital Management, Volvo Cars Tech Fund, InterAlpen Partners, Vsquared Ventures, HV Capital, Delta Electronics, C4 Ventures, L-Bank and the company's founder and CEO, David Reger.

Neura Robotics was founded in 2019 and is based in Metzingen, initially producing robots in China. Most of the production was then brought back to Germany in 2024. The idea was to strengthen Germany as a business location and to be able to advertise with “Made in Germany”, which, according to the company, would still work worldwide.

Neura Robotics manufactures both hardware and software. This is a unique selling point in Europe, as other robotics companies focus either on developing hardware or software.

Neura Robotics currently has five robot models in its range, such as MAiRA, a cognitive robotic arm, MAV, a mobile transport robot for heavy loads and MiPA, a human-like robot with a long robotic arm that can be used, for example, in patient care. However, MiPA is not yet on the market. The humanoid robot 4NE-1 is currently under development and is already in its second version. The third generation of the robot is due to be released in 2026.

On the software side, Neura Robotics is represented on the market with the cloud-based software platform Neuraverse. This enables customers, such as technology and robotics providers and manufacturers of special machines, to develop their own robot applications. The software can also be used to train Neura Robotics' robots.

According to the company, sales growth is expected to have increased tenfold by 2024. Neura Robotics does not provide exact figures, apart from an order backlog worth one billion euros. The number of employees roughly doubled to 300 in the previous year.

Neura Robotics intends to use the newly acquired capital to further advance the research and development of robot technology in the areas of hardware and software. For example, the company plans to launch new products based on Neuraverse on the market.

The company's aim is to be a player in the fast-growing and lucrative market for robots, especially humanoid robots. The robotics company wants to counter the dominance of the USA and China in this area.
