The Switch 2 remains true to its predecessor: Nintendo has released a first video of the new hybrid console, in which the new edition can be seen for the first time. The video mainly shows design changes: the new Switch 2 has a revised stand, a new docking station and is painted completely black – including the Joy-Con, which can still be removed.

It is also clear to see that the new model is significantly larger than the previous Switch. Nevertheless, the Switch 2 does not appear to deviate much from the concept that made the first edition so successful. The console can still be used on the move and on the TV. The two Joy-Con can also be plugged together again to form a single controller. The console is set to come onto the market in 2025, but there is no exact date or price yet.
There have been rumors about the Switch 2 for months: At the beginning of January, images of the processor surfaced online. Nintendo already commented on the Switch 2 last November and promised that the new console would also be able to play titles that were originally launched for the first Switch. So the announcement is no longer a surprise.

With 146 million units sold, Nintendo's Switch is one of the most successful games consoles of all time. Only the Nintendo DS family and the PlayStation 2 have sold more. Recently, however, sales of the Switch have slowed down significantly – probably also because many fans were already firmly expecting a successor.
