AMD is adding two new entry-level processors to its AM5 platform. The Ryzen 5 7400F is the AM5 model with the lowest number to date and could therefore push the price further down towards 100 euros. The Ryzen 5 9600 comes with newer Zen 5 technology instead of Zen 4.

So far, AMD has listed both processors in its product database. Unlike the previous Ryzen 5 7500F, the 7400F should also reach the retail market: AMD explicitly writes that there is a boxed version of the processor with a small CPU cooler (Wraith Stealth).

The Ryzen 5 7500F is only intended for manufacturers of complete PCs. There are also retail versions available, but only as a tray version without manufacturer's warranty and boxed cooler. Dealers are currently asking just under 160 euros for the model (starting from 124,89 €). The Ryzen 5 7400F should be priced below this. At best, it will be cheaper than the Ryzen 5 8400F (starting from 121,90 €) – the latter is a mobile derivative with only half as much level 3 cache.

The Ryzen 5 7400F is a Zen 4 six-core with 32 MByte level 3 cache and clock frequencies of 3.7 to 4.7 GHz (base/boost). It is therefore up to 400 MHz slower than the Ryzen 5 7600 (starting from 158,90 €) and 300 MHz behind the Ryzen 5 7500F. The Thermal Design Power (TDP) remains at 65 watts. According to the F suffix, the integrated graphics unit in the processor is deactivated. A separate graphics card is therefore essential for operation.

The Zen 5 six-core Ryzen 5 9600 is a lower clocked version of the Ryzen 5 9600X. Instead of 5.4 GHz, it achieves 5.2 GHz. In games and applications, the decline of less than four percent should hardly be noticeable. Considering the Ryzen 5 9600X (starting from 192,03 €), the price should be well towards 200 euros.

According to AMD, both the Ryzen 5 7400F and the Ryzen 5 9600 are approved for overclocking. As AMD is launching both models without an official announcement, the delivery dates are unknown. We assume a market launch in the coming weeks.
