The launch of Samsung's new Android flagship is imminent: the South Korean company plans to announce the Galaxy S25 at an unpacked event on Wednesday evening. The public livestream will begin on January 22 at 7 p.m. German time.
In the run-up to the event, it is already becoming apparent that Samsung has once again chosen artificial intelligence as a selling point for the Galaxy S25. "The world is open to you with Galaxy AI" is the headline on Samsung's event page, where the livestream will also be available on Wednesday evening.
Samsung's AI system is designed to offer "a diverse world of great possibilities", Samsung continues, "by responding to your daily needs in an intuitive and natural way." Samsung also promises an "advanced camera" with "ProVisual Engine", which can capture authentic skin tones even in difficult lighting conditions. Samsung is also touting the most powerful processor in the Galaxy series to date.
Snapdragon 8 Elite with more AI power
This will be the Snapdragon 8 Elite presented in October, which brings Qualcomm's Oryon cores to smartphones for the first time. These cores were originally designed for use in Windows-on-ARM laptops. In contrast to the Snapdragon X Elite, however, the Oryon cores in the Snapdragon 8 Elite are said to have been improved; Qualcomm refers to this as the second generation.
Qualcomm also promises more AI performance for the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Cell phones with the new Qualcomm chip should also be able to process more complex and context-dependent queries better than previous cell phone SoCs. In a blog entry, Samsung also writes that future Galaxy phones will be "true AI companions" that can skillfully handle text, speech and images. Samsung apparently intends to provide concrete examples and use cases on Wednesday.

In addition to the new Galaxy S25 generation phones, Samsung could also showcase new wearables at the event, possibly including an Android-based AR headset, previously known as Project Moohan.
