Alibaba Cloud, a subsidiary of the Alibaba Group, has unveiled a number of innovations at its in-house Developer Summit. These include expanded large language models of the Qwen family, including the Qwen2.5 series with model sizes from 7 to 72 billion parameters, which is now available via the Model Studio platform.
New dev tools on Model Studio
In addition, developers can use the AI coding assistant Tongyi Lingma, which is based on the Qwen 2.5 coder model and offers functions such as code completion and optimization as well as debugging support.
Alibaba Cloud brings new development tools to Model Studio, including Workflow for splitting complex tasks, Agent for multi-agent collaboration, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) for optimizing the accuracy of generative AI models, Batch Reasoning for simultaneous answer generation, and AutoEval for automated model evaluation.

Multimodal AI models on offer
Multimodal AI models such as the Qwen-VL series for visual understanding, the visual generation model Wanx2.1 and the audio model Qwen-Audio are also new to the range. To provide the necessary infrastructure, the 9th generation of Enterprise Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances will be available from April 2025, which, according to the announcement, will offer a 20 percent increase in performance and can increase performance by up to 50 percent through elastic Remote Direct Memory Access (eRDMA).
Alibaba Cloud has also unveiled the Alibaba Cloud Container Compute Service (ACS), which will be available to international customers from January 2025. This service simplifies and optimizes the deployment of workloads with container technology by integrating container services with the underlying cloud computing resources. This approach is designed to reduce costs and technical complexity.
Empowerment program promotes the development of generative AI applications
Alibaba Cloud has introduced a new support program: The GenAI Empowerment Program is aimed at global developers and start-ups that use the Qwen models to develop generative AI applications. Participants in the program receive various forms of support, including free cloud credits, training workshops, invitations to technology events and demo days, and co-marketing opportunities for products.
The program aims to help developers and start-ups accelerate their generative AI projects and connect them with a broader network of innovators to foster creativity and innovation in the field of generative AI.
