"Apple Invites": New iPhone app for event invitations
With the new app, users can create event invitations – also via AI – and view feedback. The core function requires a paid subscription.
Apple has a new iPhone app in its portfolio: "Apple Invites" is designed to send event invitations and manage feedback from invitees. According to the manufacturer, it is very easy to create invitations and Apple Music and other services can also be integrated. Images and texts can also be created and customized directly with the AI functions Image Playground and Writing Tools, according to Apple.
Invitations only with iCloud+ subscription
The event creator should then be able to see whether invitees have accepted or declined. Participants can also upload photos and videos to shared iCloud albums and create playlists together on Apple Music (for subscribers only), writes Apple.
Apple Invites seems to be primarily intended to make iCloud+ more attractive: The core function – creating invitations – is tied to a paid subscription to the Apple service. iCloud+ was introduced by Apple three years ago as an additional offering, but virtually no new functions have been added since then. In addition to additional iCloud storage space, the subscription includes the IP obfuscation service Private Relay and an option to create disposable email addresses with automatic redirection. iCloud still only offers 5 GB of free storage space, which is usually used up immediately.

App only for the iPhone
The invitations app currently only appears to be available for the iPhone and requires iOS 18. Other new Apple apps have also recently been launched without an iPad and Mac version –, much to the annoyance of some users.
Invitations can also be created via iCloud.com (as mentioned, only by iCloud+ subscribers) and answered there. Recipients therefore do not necessarily need Apple hardware to reply to the invitation.
