An analyst from Taiwan, who has a good connection to Apple's supply chain, has now joined the discussion about possible smart home robots from Apple. According to his research, Apple will not begin mass production of robots before 2028. The plans are currently still in an early proof-of-concept phase.
In the past, Ming-Chi Kuo has repeatedly made statements about whether and when new Apple products can be expected. As production takes place in large factories in the Far East and a number of suppliers are based there, where Kuo has contacts, he has often made correct predictions about the development of the iPhone, iPad and other Apple devices. In the current robot discussion, his focus is on the question of when production can begin.
Currently only a feasibility study
According to him, the time frame until the official launch varies. However, it is likely that production will not begin until 2028 or later. This time, Apple has been unusually open about its research in this area. The iPhone manufacturer recently published a video showing a robotic lamp interacting with the user. Apple thus indirectly confirmed that the company is apparently working intensively on the topic of robotics. Kuo assumes that this is intended to attract talented employees.
According to Kuo, Apple wants to focus less on the appearance of robots in collaboration with its suppliers and more on how users perceive and interact with them. Consequently, the focus is on sensor hardware and software as core technologies in production.

Uncertain outcome
The proof-of-concept phase or feasibility study is a critical development phase at Apple, in which projects get stuck and are canceled despite immense effort. Kuo mentions Apple's alleged car project, which according to reports has been terminated. Foldable smartphones are also currently still being researched by the iPhone manufacturer and are therefore anything but set.
