The Chemnitz Linux Days (CLT) will take place this year on March 22 and 23 in the European Capital of Culture 2025. The organizers have now finalized the program. As they report, it was not easy for them to select the final program from the numerous submissions.
There will be various lectures, workshops and live Linux programs at the central event location, the lecture hall building at Reichenhainer StraĂźe 90. The lectures will take place in seven rooms and start at 9 am on Saturday and 10 am on Sunday, ending at 6 pm. The topics are varied: the list includes talks on backup, nftables, firewalls, container software and, of course, various AI topics.
Chemnitz Linux Days: take part in workshops
There will also be hands-on workshops in three other rooms. These include the basics of Linux administration, an introduction to shell programming with bash and graphics and design under Linux. Prior registration is required for most of these workshops. A workshop ticket costs 5 euros, in addition to “normal” admission.

The CLT Junior program is available for children aged 10 and over. Workshops on robot or Arduino programming invite children to learn with lots of practical experience. The workshop leaders are experienced educators, according to the organizers. The times for some workshops are still contradictory, for example “Discover the world of Linux” is supposed to last two days, but the registration form states “Sunday, 10:00 a.m.” as the start time – but this should be clarified shortly. A participation fee of 5 euros is also required for these workshops, in addition to admission and prior registration.
Anyone who has questions about or problems with Linux and their hardware and software can ask the “Dr. Tux” team. The organizers ask that you register in advance and bring your problematic machine with you. The Linux Professional Institute (LPI) is offering discounted certification exams in the Weinhold Building next door for those interested in proving their Linux knowledge. If you can't be there, you can follow the presentations live as streams.
The normal ticket costs 12 euros for both days; there are also reduced tickets for 6 euros for school pupils, students, trainees, and others; the conditions are listed on a separate website. If you are traveling by train, you can get a discounted event train ticket for the first time –. However, an event ticket purchased in advance is required for ticket inspections, for example.
