Individual subreddits will soon cost money. In a video with questions about the 2024 financial year from the community, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman confirmed the introduction of a payment model. However, he did not elaborate on exactly what this would look like. Certain content would end up behind a paywall. Details such as pricing and Reddit's share of the revenue were also not discussed. This idea for a paid subreddit was first communicated by the CEO back in mid-2025. The feature is currently still under development and is being tested.
Digital marketplace and own search engine
In addition to the paid community function, a digital marketplace is also planned where users can buy and sell things. However, this function only exists on paper so far and will probably be a while in coming. However, CEO Steve Huffman hopes that the foundations for this can be laid this year.

"Reddit Answers" is a search engine within Reddit and is already available in early access. The aim is to enable users to search through the knowledge that has accumulated on Reddit over the years and receive answers to their questions. Users will then receive direct answers to their questions from other users and no longer have to search through answers on posts and subreddits themselves.
