All current cable Fritzboxes get FritzOS 8.03
FritzOS version 8.03 fixes an update problem on rental devices, for example from Vodafone. The provider plans to offer the update soon.

AVM is offering FritzOS version 8.03 for the cable Fritzboxes 6690, 6670, 6660 and 6591. The rather minor update primarily fixes a problem that affects rental devices, such as those from Internet providers Vodafone and PĂżur (Tele Colombus): FritzOS updates should now work reliably again.
AVM writes in the changelog for all four cable Fritzboxes: "Fixed: In rare cases, an automatic FritzOS update could not be updated (Fritzbox Cable rental devices only)." There are also general stability improvements.
When asked, AVM and Vodafone confirmed that affected users do not need to take manual action. Even if previous updates did not work, the routers will install FritzOS 8.03 automatically in future, provided that automatic updates are activated in the settings. PĂżur has not yet responded to an inquiry about this.

Vodafone plans to distribute FritzOS 8.03 soon
The firmware version is currently undergoing a quality check at Vodafone. According to the provider, distribution is expected to begin in a few weeks. Anyone using a Fritzbox purchased from a retailer will receive the update from today. In case of doubt, users can initiate the update via the web interface (by default at http://192.168.178.1/). Otherwise, AVM will distribute the update in waves over the next few days.
The FritzOS 8.03 changelog differs marginally for the Fritzboxes for DSL and fiber optic connections: There, AVM fixed problems in the interaction with mobile sticks, with the automatically sent e-mails of the push service or MyFritzNet, and with Austrian telephone numbers.
