From next October, Rhineland-Palatinate will be providing a digital school platform for all schools in the state: IServ RLP. This is intended to help reduce bureaucracy and relieve the burden on teachers and schools.
Tool for school organization
IServ has been available as a school platform since the early 2000s. For Rhineland-Palatinate, the Braunschweig-based company has now tailored the services it has developed over the years to the state's own school IT infrastructure. IServ RLP will be embedded in the RLP education portal. According to Education Minister Dr. Stefanie Hubig (SPD), each school can choose the components that suit its needs from 50 different modules
IServ can be used to keep digital class registers or organize consultation days, for example. can be organized, and absences can also be reported there. There are various options for both internal school communication and communication with parents/guardians. If letters are sent to parents, for example, these can also be translated automatically. Digital bulletin boards, forums, and survey tools allow teachers and pupils to exchange information in more detail.

“The state government is committed to reducing bureaucracy. At schools in particular, there is not only a need, but also many opportunities to make things leaner, faster and more efficient. IServ RLP makes an outstanding contribution to this and our teachers will greatly appreciate being able to focus on their pupils instead of on forms and administration,” explained Hubig. IServ RLP goes far beyond the state's previous offerings. In addition, Rhineland-Palatinate is now the first German state to offer its schools such software free of charge. Its use is voluntary.
Gradual introduction
Training and certification for administrators is due to begin in April, pilot schools will be provided access to IServ RLP in June. The service will then be available to all schools from October.
