Pictures of the week: Floral patterns on women and idyllic mountain landscapes
From abstraction to detail: our gallery photographers stage cogwheels, a raven with an intense gaze, but also fascinating landscapes.

The images from the past week could not be more different, but all are worth more than just a glance: Venice shines in its full splendor, a petite woman poses for an artistic portrait. The ever-changing weather in the mountains is captured superbly, as is the piercing face of a raven.
The dream of flowers III
(Image:Â Ivan im Abstrakten)
The blue floral pattern adorns the body of a petite woman. In the series "The Dream of Blossoms III" by Ivan im Abstrakten, the woman merges with the wall in the background. Her floral tattoos, which initially almost disappear due to the projection, add a subtle emphasis to the portrait. An altogether artistic and appealing approach to portrait photography.
Grand Canal
(Image:Â Karl Hotz-Thelen)
Karl Hotz-Thelen captures the picturesque Canale Grande in Venice. The well-known photo motif almost looks like a painting, especially due to the choice of colors. It is interspersed with warm orange and cool blue tones, which are harmoniously combined as contrasting colors.
Lupins in the Alps
(Image:Â holysh0t)
The lupins in the Alps sway gently in the wind in the foreground, while a storm brews in the background. The photograph appears calm and restless at the same time, which is reinforced by the raging river that breaks through the calm meadow in the picture. Holysh0t skillfully captures the unpredictable mountains in his shot.
bokeh night II
(Image:Â Daborius)
Small snail shells shine from the inside in this picture. The light gives the impression that the light inside has been switched on. The bokeh effect enhances the fairytale atmosphere and lends the scene a touch of magic. This image is the second part of the"bokeh night II" series by Daborius.
The Working Man
(Image:Â actioreactio)
The little man in the art project"The Working Man" works tirelessly. "As a photographer, I am fascinated by metals and their different appearances depending on perspective and lighting," actioreactio (aka Adam Neuba) tells us. "Once I came across some cogwheels and after a few preliminary attempts, the idea for this picture was born. (...) Despite great effort and care in the construction, not all ideas can be implemented down to the smallest detail in such a complex structure with so many reflective elements."
Train to Nowhere
(Image:Â J. Dreier)
The"Train to Nowhere", which departs from Altenbeken station, is impressively emphasized by the light trails. The speed of the train is made almost tangible by the light moving behind it. In combination with the illuminated viaduct, this creates an atmospheric night shot by J. Dreier.
Sending a raven.
(Image:Â Philo81)
The raven is captured in this portrait by Philo81 with an impenetrable lighting mood. Each individual feather is clearly recognizable and his eyes radiate intelligence – "Send a raven".
