The GeForce RTX 5080 is also affected by the ROP deficiency
Anyone who has purchased an RTX 5000 graphics card should definitely take a look at the GPU-Z readout tool.

All previously introduced graphics cards from the GeForce RTX 5000 series may have too few raster output stages, also known as Render Output Unit or Raster Operation Pipeline (ROP). Officially, Nvidia has only confirmed the problems with the GeForce RTX 5090, RTX 5070 Ti and the China-exclusive RTX 5090D, but there is now also the first case with a GeForce RTX 5080.
On Reddit, a member shared a screenshot of the GPU-Z readout tool, which shows only 104 instead of 112 ROPs. An uploaded validation proves that the screenshot is not fake.
The final processing steps of the pixels take place in the final raster stages before they move on to the frame buffer. If there is a bottleneck here, the missing units can have a one-to-one effect on the frame rate. In the case of the GeForce RTX 5080, this would be around seven percent.
GPU-Z reads out real values
Techpowerup, the developer of GPU-Z, confirms that the tool always reads the real ROPs as soon as the Nvidia driver is loaded. GPU-Z uses Nvidia's NVAPI for this. Only if the driver is not loaded, for example directly after the PC is started, does GPU-Z fall back to the stored default values.

If you have acquired an RTX 5000 graphics card, you should definitely install GPU-Z and check the number of ROPs. The GeForce RTX 5090 should have 176, the RTX 5080 104, the RTX 5070 Ti 88 and the upcoming RTX 5070 64.
According to Nvidia, this is a manufacturing error. Missing ROPs cannot be restored through driver or BIOS updates. According to Nvidia, those affected should contact the manufacturer of the respective graphics card for a replacement. However, due to the poor availability, long waiting times are to be expected.
