Delphi climbs into the top 10 in the Tiobe index – Rust at all-time high
In February, some positions shifted in the Tiobe Index: Rust and Delphi rose, while PHP fell.

The Tiobe Index for February offers a few surprises. Rust is on a rapid upward trend in the programming language ranking and Delphi, which has just celebrated its thirtieth birthday, crawls into the top 10.
The prevalence of Rust has been rising steadily since 2022 and the language has climbed from 18th place in the previous year to an all-time high of 13th place –. PHP, on the other hand, is trending downwards from 10th to 14th place, a decline in importance that began back in 2010.
Delphi or Pascal, which celebrated its 30th birthday on February 14, is a real surprise: It climbed into the top 10 to 9th place from 12th last year. This slow upward trend has been noticeable since 2020.

Python remains in first place, with C++ in second place (up from 3) and Java in third place (up from 4). On the other hand, the C programming language slipped from 2 to 4.

The not uncontroversial Tiobe Index uses web searches to evaluate how many hits programming languages achieve on the internet each month and therefore does not show the actual use of a language, but rather reflects the discourse.
